- 7:00 p.m. @ LNC  - Wildflowers and the Fall Planting Season
Gene Bush
, owner of Munchkin Nursery and Garden in Depauw, Indiana, and noted horticultural writer, artist and photographer.  Gene has lots of great slides for shade gardeners and information on the best time to plant in this region.
September  28 - 6:30 p.m. Iroquois Park - Prairie & Wetland Restoration Insights
Jane Harrod,
highly respected naturalist, owner of Jane's Native Seed and native plant consultant for the Olmsted Parks will talk about the native plants used in the Olmsted Parks and lead us on a tour of this prairie and wetland restoration site in it's fourth year.
Use the New Cut Road entrance to the park; take a right at the first stop sign.  At the next stop sign take a hard left and drive on up the hill.  Park at Jacob's Lodge (the big stone shelter) and look for us there. 
NOTE: The gate to the uphill road must be closed by 6:45 pm- so don't be late.  Also, if you're looking for dinner in the area, some of us may go to the Thanh Thanh Vietnamese Chinese Restaurant at 5225 New Cut Road (right across from the Iroquois Amphitheater.
October 26 - 7:00 p.m. @ LNC - Native Trees for Fall Planting
John Swintosky, Landscape Architect with the Louisville Jefferson County Parks Department and noted "woody" expert, will talk with us about Native Trees for Fall Planting.

The 4th Saturday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to noon.  Meet at the Eastern Parkway entrance and look for us in the wooded area behind the flagpole behind the Daniel Boone statue.  There are foot paths accessible from the Scenic Loop side of this site.  Pat Haragan will continue to lead us in doing a Plant Survey of this site through October.  Invasive control work will also resume in September or when the weather is cooler.  Look for an article in September issue of Wild Journal about our work here.

Election Time

The annual election of officers will be in November this year.   Nominations (including self-nominations) for all positions will be accepted from now through October 26th.-write or e-mail.  Anyone wishing to serve as an officer, board member, committee chairperson, or simply become more involved with local chapter administration is encouraged to contact us
