Fun and informative meetings happen on the first Saturday of each month at 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. The location changes depending on what we have scheduled whether it is a field trip, a speaker or a service project for a member or someone in the community. These are followed by a potluck social or lunch out.

Prairie Assessment and Wildflower Hike
Location: Pringle Nature Center on CTY MB between C and Q and Bong State Recreation Area on HWY 142
Time: 10:00-11:30 am
We will assess how our prairie stewardship is going at Pringle, and then continue on to Bong for a hike amidst the lovely summer wildflowers. Nan and Chris will not be there, unfortunately, but we will soldier on without them. See you there!

Native Plants and Art Fair
Location: Hawthorn Hollow: 880 Green Bay Road, Kenosha
Time: 10:00 am until ?
Cost: suggested donation is $4 per car
We will look at the native plantings and then will be free to wander about and look at the art. If you have any Wild Ones gear, please wear it! See you there!

Field Trip to Wild Center
Location: We'll meet at the Park and Ride at I-94 and Hwy 20
Time: 7:45 am
Wear or bring outside clothes so we can see the grounds and do some work as well. We'll have lunch there and see the film "Green Fire." Don't forget your money for the gift shop!

Saving Peacock Prairie by Bernice Popelka

The Peacock Prairie is the last remaining stand of virgin prairie in the Chicago area. Come here how Bernice saved some of it from development. We will lunch afterwards at the Bristol 45 Diner near the school.

Root River Chapter of the Wild Ones is dedicated to serving as a resource for members of the community interested in natural landscaping and preserving native plant species, whether in a single flower bed or a multi-acre prairie or woodland restoration. We welcome new and prospective members to join us at any of our Saturday programs and community activities.
