"Identification of Palouse Natives & Exotics by Their Winter Foliage." Field trip to Nature Conservancy's Rose Creek Preserve, where preserve director Bertie Weddell will show us how to ID plants from their previous year's skeletons. We'll also be digging teasel, a problematic weed at the preserve. Meet at 12:30 by Treaty Grounds at the Palouse Mall to carpool (remember to bring weed diggers).

"Palouse Soils and Their Relationship to Native Habitats." Dr. Maynard Fosberg, professor emeritus in soils at Univ. of Idaho, will present information about local soil types.

"Landscape Design with Palouse Natives." Field trip to U.I. Arboretum to see the native plant section and learn landscaping techniques from arboretum horticulturalist Paul Warnick. Meet at the parking lot at the south end of the arboretum (off Palouse River Drive) at 1:30.
