We'll continue our efforts to rid Wildflower Woods of invasive exotic plants and allow native flora to re-establish itself.
Educational Focus: Making and Using Wood Chips. Included in the demonstration are hands-on techniques for removing alien invasive plants in the woods, which will be equally appropriate to your own garden.
Location: Wildflower Woods is in Cherokee Park between Cherokee Parkway, Barney Avenue and the Scenic Loop. Park in the circle at the eastern end of Eastern Parkway around the Daniel Boone statue.

March 5, 2005 (Sat) 4:30-7:30 pm - Prescribed Burn Program - tentative
See sites that were burned in late February. If conditions are right there will be a small on site demonstration. Jerry Brown will give a presentation on the why and how of prescribed burning. To participate, wear heavy leather boots and natural fiber (cotton) clothing.
Location: Lightland Native Seed Farm in Shelby County.

Wild Ones will join the Southern Indiana Botanical Society for a wildflower walk, with a pitch-in picnic and plant exchange afterwards.

September 9-11, 2005 - Annual Meeting
Bunker Hill Regional Park is a 1600 acre parkland site, about 25 min. from the airport with a restaurant 1.5 miles away. The park has both rustic & RV camping facilities! Attendance is limited to 200 due to meeting room space. Keynote speaker might be Joan Nassauer, who was involved in a St Paul suburb that used wetland/rain gardens instead of curbs and gutters to handle rainwater/runoff.

Wild Ones are great cooks so bring your favorite holiday dish, any plants or seeds you wish to share and a big appetite for good company. David Fothergill will give us an update on the garden renovations at Whitehall, members will share highlights of their native plant experiences in 2005, new board members/officers will be welcomed and retiring members recognized as we do some preliminary planning for 2006.
